LIONS V GLASGOW, PREVIEW

LEICESTER face another big test of their impressive home record when a powerful Glasgow side visit the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena on Saturday (7pm).

The Tigers have been beaten Grand Finalists in the last two seasons, including by the Watling JCB Lions in 2019, and have started the campaign in fine form with big home wins over Newcastle and Berwick.

As usual, they are led by former Grand Prix man Craig Cook, and they also track two of the sport’s big rising talents in British Under-21 Champion Tom Brennan and in-form Danish youngster Benjamin Basso, as well as former Lion Cubs skipper Danyon Hume.

Lions are again without captain Kyle Howarth due to illness, and have brought in a form man themselves with Redcar’s Lewis Kerr – who scored 13 points against them on Friday – coming in as guest.

Boss Stewart Dickson said: “After the point at Redcar, it’s essential that we keep the back door closed at home against Glasgow.

“We know it’s going to be every bit as tough as the Poole match, and I’ve made no secret that these two matches would be the ultimate test for us.

“We’re without our skipper, and we’re thankful to Lewi Kerr for coming in. Watching him on Friday, he was in exceptional form so I’m pleased I’ve got him to guest - I know this is another meeting, but he likes the starts at Leicester and I’m confident he can score well for us.

“If the other riders perform as they are capable of doing, hopefully we can do enough to get any sort of a win. We’re going to need everybody to bring their ‘A’ game to get the result we need.”

Prior to the meeting, there will be an autograph/photo session with Lions riders Connor Mountain and Dan and Joe Thompson. This will take place from 6.20-6.30pm and supporters are asked to meet at the pits gate entrance at the start of the back straight.

LEICESTER: Nick Morris, Connor Mountain, Lewis Kerr, Dan Thompson, Richie Worrall, Anders Rowe, Joe Thompson.
GLASGOW: Craig Cook, Broc Nicol, Ulrich Ostergaard, Benjamin Basso, Tom Brennan, Danyon Hume, Connor Bailey.
